Hide the Computer Clock Display

August 11, 2009

If having a constant reminder of minutes and hours wasted hanging out in chat rooms, aimlessly surfing, or playing solitaire makes you feel guilty, hiding the computer’s clock might help.

  1. Right-click an open area of the taskbar and then click “Properties”. The Taskbar and Start menu Properties window should load with the “Taskbar” tab open.

  2. Untick the box labelled “Show the clock”.

  3. Click “OK” to save your change and exit the Taskbar and Start menu Properties window.

The clock should now disappear from view.

To get the clock display back, reverse the procedure by placing a tick in the “Show the clock” checkbox as per step 2 above.

Naturally, the procedure outlined above simply removes the display of the clock. It does not disable the clock itself. The clock is an important component of your computer and it will continue to run in the background even if it is not displayed in the Notification Area.
